Yolandie Kriel conducted qualitative research training with our Zambian and Kenyan UPTAKE Research partners from 19-21 August 2015 at the University Teaching Hospital’s Pediatric Excellence Unit in Lusaka, Zambia.

The aim of the training workshop was to review qualitative research methods, qualitative data analysis and brainstorm the requirements for the UPTAKE project team. Fun was had working with practical examples of qualitative data which were analysed during training on NVivo 10 software.

Good coordination and planning is required for collaborative qualitative research to be successful. By the end of the training workshop a plan had been established for the specific requirements for each team to take the project forward and for how best to work together in this exciting inter-country collaborative project.

We thank the WHO HRP and the Zambian Ministry of Health for making this training possible.
